Shadow Lessons

Shadow Lessons

Light, darkness do not oppose each other but enhance.
Definition of sight requires both elements to bring a view.
Truth asks for wholeness inclusive, never a religious trance.
Incarnational living, the joy of Word Become Flesh’s crew;

Engage the shadow, allow it full voice, see its’ presence.
As a child of light, shadow will allow no evil or sin to evade;
Don’t fear the pathway through shades essence.
Christ’s demonstration in Holy Week, the full drama played.

Early on most were reminded that pleasing power worked.
First parents asked compliance, then teachers voices raised.
“Good” children, “Good” students never the system jerked.
Rewards to the ones who agreed, never the ambience phased.

Often power makes choices that are senseless, inane.
Those subjected find their lives constantly a loss.
Shadow work brings strength to systems insane.
Wisdom guides toward wellness, life’s’ field to cross.

Every experience can be approached in the open better.
Describing its’ contours must present its wholeness complete.
Lessons of life at times come easily, other times bound in fetter.
Word Become Flesh shows how faith works by grace replete.

Once a little lad saw a necklace fine and fair,
He put it in his pocket to have, to hold.
Mother said, “My son what have you there?”
“A beautiful necklace that I found.” his reply bold;

“Where did you get this lovely, beautiful thing?”
“I found it in a jewel box on your dresser in your room.”
“I see.” She said. “To that box the necklace we must bring.”
“But mother, I want it close not in that boxlike tomb.”

“You have a heart for loveliness my son.”
“I also share that joyful, delicious trait.”
“Another’s treasure needs respect, else sin will stun.”
“What do think we must do to avoid a complaint?”

Quietly, the boy thought. Mother gave him amply time.
“Let’s put your necklace in its place, then it won’t be lost.”
“May I look through your box of jewels, it is a sight sublime.”
“You’re a most lovely jewel to me, my son when truth’s boundary’s not crossed.”
