Three Yet One
John 16.12-15
Mystery intrigues a
lively mind.
Concepts occupy
certain rooms within.
Spirituality releases
theology’s bind.
Scripture’s well
refreshes, grace erases sin.
Creator holds all in
loving embrace.
Designs the day with
a margin of joy;
Maintains eternity as
a beginning place;
Engages any, all,
their lives to employ.
Word Become Flesh
crosses into history.
Lives actively
‘mongst smells, sounds, daily cares;
Born miraculously,
toils alongside yet a mystery.
Heals, teaches,
encourages, great challenges dares.
Spirit imbues life
with effervescent wonder;
Constantly empowers
Creator’s ideas, brings life.
Puckishly suggests
“Sin’s power’s gone, totally asunder.”
Knows the deeper
truth, stills all strife.
No better or lessor
notion than Trinity will do.
Gathers the wholeness
of the One to mind;
Elegantly lifts up
The Others presence so true.
Prevents spiritual
stagnation, sins constant bind;
Quantum physics hints
at the wonder made real.
Mysticism attempts to
explore the realm apart.
Contemplation enters
sanctuary in quiet zeal.
Created truth becomes
available in life’s cart.
Fear not the
possibility Trinity makes available.
Plunge deep into this
wondrous pool of grace.
Relax cultures
notions, old saws no longer malleable,
Boldly enter the
great cathedral, meet the One face to face.
How many holies shall
we sing?
What word or words
will suffice?
Can we all our hopes,
joys, sorrows bring?
Into this day’s
mission God will entice.
